How can I make a reservation at Contessa?

Do you have an early departure fee?

If you are departing early from a non-refundable reservation, the full amount of stay will be forfeited. If departing the hotel early from a refundable reservation, the cancelation policy applies and 72-hour notice is required. If 72-hour notice is not given, one full night’s room and tax will be charged.

What is included in the required $40 (plus taxes, per night) residential fee?

Do you have ADA guestrooms?

Yes, we have 12 ADA guestrooms. Please note the request on your reservation.

Do you have connecting guestrooms?

Yes, please note the request for connecting guestrooms on your reservation. This request is based on availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Is my identification or passport required at check in?

We require government issued Photo ID at time of check in for all reservations.

What is your cancellation & deposit policy?

Guests may change or cancel their reservations 72 hours prior to check-in time. Should a guest cancel after 72 hours there will be a one-night penalty fee.

What is the minimum age requirement to check into a guestroom at your hotel?

Guests must be at least age 21 to register at The Newbury Boston.

Do your Guestrooms allow rollaway or cribs and if so, is there a charge for this?

Many of our guestrooms and suites can accommodate a rollaway bed or crib. Please let us know before you arrive of your request and we will ensure your guestroom is set-up.

What amenities does The Newbury Boston provide?

We can offer a kids menu, kid bath robes, and our guest experience team is also able to provide a crib, diaper genie, microwave or small refrigerator, subject to availability. 

Do you offer babysitting services?

We are happy to assist should you require a babysitter by putting you in touch with services recommended by our expert concierge.

Is The Newbury Boston kid friendly?

Yes! We are a family friendly hotel. Should you require a connecting room, please let our reservations agent know upon booking and we will do our best to accommodate you and your family.

What is your credit/debit card policy?

Debit and Credit cards will be authorized at check-in for the amount of your stay, plus an additional $100 per night to cover incidentals. The authorization will hold the funds until check out, at which time the amount actually incurred during the stay will be charged. Authorized amounts may take up to 30 days after departure to be released by your bank or financial institution and the hotel will not be responsible for any resulting fees or charges.

What is check-in/check-out time?

Check-in time is at 3:00 p.m. Check-out time is at 12:00 p.m. local Boston time.

Do you allow smoking on property or in your guestrooms?

Our hotel (all guest rooms and public spaces) is 100% non-smoking. A $500 cleaning fee will be charged to any guest who violates the smoking policy.

Does your hotel have a swimming pool?

We do not have an on-site swimming pool. Please ask our Concierge or other Guest Services Representative for assistance with swimming pool options.

Does your hotel have a Spa?

We do not have an on-site spa; however, there are many excellent spas within steps of the hotel and we would be delighted to assist with an appointment. Be sure to ask our Concierge or other Guest Services Representatives for assistance with spa options and appointments.

Does your hotel have a gym?

We do have an on-site fitness center, open 24-hours/day, located on our third floor.

How can I make a reservation at The Street Bar?

We do not offer or accept reservations at The Street Bar. You may walk in and enjoy the classic fare and cocktails, subject to availability. 


Where are your closest Public Transportation/MBTA stops?

The closest MBTA (or “T”) stops are the Arlington (Green Line), Park Street (Red Line), and Back Bay (Orange Line) Stations. The Arlington Green Line is one block from the hotel.

Amtrak service runs through Back Bay Station, which is a 12-minute walk or 5-minute drive.

Do you have onsite parking? How much is parking? Is it included in my room rate?

The Newbury Boston offers valet parking. It is not included in the room rate. Our valet rates are:

Overnight - $75
Day / Event - $45
Contessa guests - $45

There is no restaurant/retail validation. Overnight rate includes unlimited “in and out” privileges.

Do you offer shuttle service from the airport?

While we do not operate an airport shuttle service, our Concierge team would be delighted to assist you in arranging private transportation service. Our Concierge team can be reached by email at [email protected] or calling 617.536.5700. Alternate subway, ride share and taxi options are also available from the airport to downtown Boston.

Do you have a Business Center?

Our Library serves as a wonderful place to work from, outside of your guestroom or suite. For your printing needs, please see our Concierge team. 

May I take engagement or wedding photos at The Newbury?

To ensure a comfortable experience for all our guests, we do not permit photo shoots in our lobby, elevators, The Street Bar, The Library and other public spaces. 


I would like flowers, chocolates, champagne, or other gifts sent to the guestroom. How do I arrange this?

Please contact [email protected] to discuss your requests or if you are currently in residence at The Newbury Boston, you may use your in-room tablet to enjoy additional enhancements.

Can I ship packages to the hotel in advance of my stay?

Yes, we are happy to receive packages on your behalf with no additional fees. Please address as follows:

Are pets allowed? Are there restrictions for weight, height or types?

Yes, dogs are the only pets accepted at this time (cats and other animals are not allowed). There are no weight or height restrictions, however we allow two dogs per room, maximum. There is an additional $100.00 (non-refundable) cleaning fee per stay. Pets may not be left alone in a guest room at any time.

Do you have dog walking services?

Will any floors be pet-free?

Yes, the 10th floor of The Newbury will be pet free floor for any one that has allergies. Please let your reservations agent know if you require an allergen free room and our team will work to accommodate you.


Can I pay for my room or someone else’s in advance?

Yes, you can certainly arrange payment in advance for yourself or someone else. Please fill out the credit card authorization form in the link below.

What forms of payment are accepted for my guestroom?

We require a credit card for guarantee of a reservation, however payment by travelers check, credit/debit card, or cash upon departure is accepted. Please note that our hotel does not accept check payments at this time and does not accept cash deposits for incidentals.

Are gift card purchases refundable?

Gift card purchases are final and non-refundable.
